EU1 and temporary visa.

    Hello,

I'm an EU citizen and my wife who has a US passport recently sent in the EU1 form to apply for a residency based on EU treaty rights. Her tourist visa expires next week and we sent in our application last Friday. Still no response from INIS about her application being processed.

In EU1 explanatory leaflet it states that
"Subject to consideration of your initial application, you may be provided with an immigration stamp in your passport which is valid for
the period of the application process only, i.e. a maximum of 6 months. This would enable you to remain in the State during this
period. Please note that receipt of this endorsement is not an acknowledgement of an entitlement under EU Treaty Rights. This will be
determined in due course when your application is either approved or refused"

From what I understand in order to get that 6 month visa extension we need some sort of proof that we have submitted the EU1 and its currently being reviewed. Is there any way for us to request that info from INIS, or can we just pop down to GNIB without any hard proof and ask for the 6 month extension?

If not, how long does it usually take for INIS to some sort of confirmation that our application is being reviewed?

The time is running out and we're a bit panicky here :(

They're taking a couple months to acknowledge EU-1 applications at the moment. No need to panic, if the application is approved her residence permission will be backdated and they're not going to turf her out in the meantime.
