MK1 Yaris dash light draining battery

I have a car that is seldom driven, it is a 99 yaris. I receently replaced the battery as it would not hold a charge. that was fine and the car worked as it should. however, i noticed a few days ago that it was now flat again. I have noticed that the illumination around the casette player does not turn off, even when the car is off.
i assume this is the cause. Would this be a fuse issue or wiring problem?

    any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Looks like someone tampered with the wiring alright.

AFAIR radio runs on DOME fuse, as well as interior light and some other minor things. Pull the fuse off for a couple of days and compare the difference.

    Is radio aftermarket?

thanks, I'll pull the fuse. radio is never on anyway so no loss.

it is a standard yaris radio/cassette

Id say it's a fault in the radio itself.
