Looking for thoughts on this build

This totals £325 or €400

There's no GPU or disk drive (will get them at a later date.

I suppose what I'm looking for is sth that's quicker than my current PC "Dell Optiplex 745" but I want sth that's affordable, decent and can be improved upon. Kids will more than likely use it for minecraft as well and also to hook up to the projector for movies and stuff.

Also is it all compatible?

For the same price or better are there any tweake/changes you'd suggest. I also have £60 credit with amazon which is one of the reasons I'm using them.

Looks good at a glance anyway

RAM, CPU and motherboard are all compatible.
You can drop the motherboard to a H97 board if you can find one cheaper. You don't need the overclocking features on the Z97 board.

The item Id most like to get a bit cheaper is the ssd. Any suggestions on Amazon as an alternative?

Thanks for the feedback, purchased the case and the psu earlier, cost me about £14 with my credit.

I've swapped the ssd and the motherboard. Just looking for confirmation now that all still compatible as I'm ready to purchase?

Hi all, just an update. In the jpeg are the items I've bought already. There seems to be aload of different intel processors, could someone direct me to a good fit for the items already bought?

I suppose I'll be using PC for video playback, editing video, maybe some games and general use.

And is there anything else I can add? Wifi card?

i3 4160 as above would be fine.

Depending on the games a GPU like a GTX750 or AMDs newest cards are being announced in the coming days for price and performance I believe.

Larger hard drive for storage mightn't go astray but your call.

I'd get power line adapters over a WiFi Dongle

Thanks for above, on Amazon the 4160 is more expensive than the 4170, yet the 4170 is a newer model?
Any other main difference to consider?

Not a newer model, higher frequency.

Go with the 4170 if its cheaper, there's basically no difference between them.
