    Never heard of him.

Can we keep the rip threads to actual omfg people.

Otherwise it will just turn into a list of people who died that day.

Ah c'mon man, I know sfa about country music but even I know who Merle Haggard was.

Acutal people? They were all people who meant different things to different people. We do not get to decide who is important or not. Let those who knew this person discuss it, no one forcing you to comment.

That's an awful thing to say just because you never heard of him.

Obscure 1940s celebrity news of any kind is open to criticism.

Maybe post it in the aulones and aulfellas forum from now on.

This is why the mods move threads to more suited forums.

Someone starts a thread on Jonny footballs leg injury and it gets moved to football.

    Because it's not widely important.

Or maybe, when you see an RIP thread for someone you haven't heard of you could just, ya know, ignore it?

    Inform yourself.

That song was a pisstake out of rednecks that ironically became a hit with rednecks.

Merle was anything but a 'dry coward', what a crap thing to say.

    I don't have many heroes.

    Merle was one.

'Sing me back home' is one of my favourite songs of all time.

    RIP

The song was a spoof not a satire. I heard an interview with him where he said that he was opposed to anti-war protestors during the Vietnam War.

Anyhoo, I apologise if anyone thinks my post was in bad taste, it was an attempt at humour.
