Well, if someone doesn't pay for it it won't improve and the network won't expand or they will just sell it off to a private foreign company that will really fleece us.

I do have to say though in 9 months of daily usage I only had one problem at Newlands Cross.

As it stands now, the charging network makes absolutely no sense for the ESB, they invested a lot, sure, got some free E.U chargers but got nothing from the Government, this is the same Government that will have to pay 65-130 million per % over it's emissions targets and they're still charging VRT on electrics, small, but still VRT.

They need to inject money into the network and they need to come up with a plan fast to increase EV sales or they or should I say "we" will have to paay an awful lot of money in breech of emissions fines !!!

Yes it does make sense for ESB to offer chargers for free.
They incentivize drivers to buy ev cars.
The more ev cars on the road means more drivers using electricity at night giving them money.

Is there any user-generated database or list to check if chargers are working or down? The ESB app seems a bit hit and miss and we were nearly stranded in Gorey AND Arklow last weekend thanks to the app not reflecting reality!

Plugshare and EV Ireland have the option to leave comments so always worth checking those.
Pretty ridiculous though to be honest.

According to ecars .applegreen cullenmore is now back online.

Amazingly , neither these or the older " Maxol" are on their management system. So they have no status updates other the users reporting faults and engineers reporting fixes

There's no way we should pay for this. I regard this as an " experimental " network and not to acceptable commercial or mission critical standards.

Gorey maxol has been referred to the manufacturers , no timeline on repairs

It's an app - seems to be run by the Irish EV Owners Association I think.

I don't think it has any connection to the association but yeah it's another app.
