I have seen a large increase of advertisements on social media, mainly Facebook over the last year.

All the studies show that people use Facebook to engage with their connections and most demographics, especially the under 25 have no interest in engaging with brands on Facebook, even if they can get an answer to their question quicker on social media than through email.

In 2015 Facebook had revenue of $18 billion!!!

Do you engage with adverts on Facebook?

Do you click on paid advertisements on Facebook? 11 votes

Never - its bad enough there are commercial breaks on TV!

I hope nobody is researching a thesis with a poll like this:)

I was surprised at the amount they earn and having spoken to a few people they don't engage with the ads so I'm wondering how they still manage to pull in this amount of revenue after years of data showing that it might not be the best option for advertisers.

Facebook redesigned their advertising display slots. Unless you pay close attention to them, you'd hardly notice they're ads as they fit in perfectly with a user's timeline. That's why they're making money.

Worse when a friend gets pulled in to one of those fitness totally-not-a-pyramid schemes and their posts start to sound like infomercials because they get a percentage on how much they sell. Disgusting practice altogether. *harrumph*!

I've never once clicked on an internet ad, in 18 years of using it!

*wait a sec, I'm the 1 millionth visitor to this site? :pac:

Sorry OP, After Hours is not a place for you to conduct your very specific research.
