Have you looked under the bonnet?

It might be the expansion tank that has burst.

Why wouldn't you fix it ? The fault is with the pressure cap on the bottle which is supposed to release excess pressure. I would of expected a hose to blow before the radiator so the radiator may of been faulty.

The metal part? Impact damage or blew from inside out?
Or was it the plastic top part? Tends to go at the corner near the top pipe. Happened me, some loss of coolant but couldn't find the leak - eventually left go big time turning into work one day - aux belt squealing with the water dumped in it and gauge started rising. new rad and no problems since.

    ahhhh - the radiator cap.
Would have expected the gauge to rise for a while before that blowing.

Inspect radiator, hoses and reservoir, or have a mech do it.
It's possible it's salvageable but there's no way we can guess without even being able to see it..

Ok, once done make sure to get it pressure tested, and get a new OE cap.

In the worst case it could be a cracked head or head gasket failure from combustion chamber too. When major leak of that type occurs the radiator cap might not allow enough leakage to save the other components. Look for air bubbles in the coolant expansion tank.
