Saw this on the RTE website.

Thursday night games are to be live on Twitter.

I'm assuming they will be blacked out this side of the world due to the Sky deal, but sure we know ways around that.

Wonder is it some way to raise the profile of Thursday night games ?
They are usually poor in quality due to the quick turnaround times from Sunday, and up to recently none were available on free TV

Twittter to show American Football games live

I'd say it's likely sky will show those games on it'd new sports mix channel. The viewership must be pretty low so making it FTA will probably see numbers go up. If that does happen I can't see a blackout happening

The Twitter novelty will wear off in no time. The only bloody thing that'll improve the Thursday night product is slating some decent games for it and not the garbage we're used to.

I was not aware of the Sky Sports Mix station on the way, want a brilliant place to put Red Zone :)

Still, you have to admire the NFL's social media approach and absolute embracing of the internet (Gamepass, etc) compared to other sports, can't think of any other ones doing as good a job. A friend convinced me to download Snapchat (it's a pile of cack) and the NFL do live highlights, fan videos from the crowd of plays, fans celebrating, tailgating, etc all through NFL Sundays if I recall. It's literally the only reason I didn't delete Snapchat sooner, and will be the only reason I reinstall it when the seasons rolls back in. Love that feature!

Well, that and showing the world Sebastian the Polished Powder Keg for 1 second intervals at a time.

But it will be a handy source for someone without a sky sub to get official access, instead of having the headaches of the likes of Kodi.

I think its a combination of poor viewership numbers and twitter have reached peak value and their share price is dropping and its been widely know that twitter as a platform has gone as far as it can do so they are probably looking at new ways to up its share price and generate ad sales.

It will be interesting to see how it works out....Thursday night football...that fanfare...jesus can't wait for the season to kick off again!
