Received a letter in the post this morning informing me of a recall affecting my corolla, specifically the passenger airbag inflate module.

    Anybody else receive similar?

Lots of makes affected by the Takata airbag problem, they are working through them I guess.
I had my Accord done just last month.

Takata airbag screw up. Affected plenty of manufacturers. Some BMW and Honda owners on here have had it done already.

My car us 12 years old, is this a residual issue, and they've only just got to my name on the list, or is it a newly discovered fsult

It's a few years since the issue was discovered. I had it done last year on an Accord. Millions of cars around the world where affected and it's taking a long time to replace them all.

I had forgotten all about this actually, when I heard about it first, and got no correspondence, I assumed I wasn't affected

I am just wondering if anyone else had this issue.

    I am raging about this.....

Got the letter from toyota about the airbag so I left it into the local Toyota garage to get "FixED" a few days after collecting the car the airbag light came (back on this is back in late august). I didn't go straight back with it at the time as I really needed my car and couldn't be without it for another day and put it on the long finger. I wrongly assumed the garage would put right what ever was wrong no problem

Roll on NCT time mid OCT. I realised I wouldn't pass with this light on, so I rang the garage as them to fix it and they said to drop it in. They didn't fix it at the time because they hadn't enough notice but offer to try and turn the airbag light off. This worked for about an hour and I failed the NCT on the light issue only. Now the electrics in my car are fecked and the car is knocking itself off when I am in a low gear (this happened the day after I collected my car)

I then rang the longford garage to arrange a time to have it fixed and they claim it has nothing to do with the airbag campaign and that I would have to pay for the diagnostics and to have the airbag fixed.

I am so angry and don't know what to do..I don't want to let them away with it. how they can say it has nothing to do with the airbag when its the airbag light is beyond me. I am trying to call Tayota Ireland at the minute but no one is picking up.

has anyone else had this happen

The stalling is nothing to do with the airbag. 99.999% certain.

This is your fault unfortunately, if you suspect an issue you really need to be right back, its unreasonable for the garage to be expected to investigate the issue weeks/months later

    Exactly.

I'd had the displeasure of dealing with a lot of these campaigns and every chancer in the world has already tried to associate their check airbag light being on with the campaign.

The problem is with shrapnel in the bag, which, present or not is not going to bring on the check airbag light.

6 months is too long a timeframe to expect the garage to feel any sense of loyalty or urgency towards the job.

It should be simple enough though, you book the car in for a diagnostic on the airbag system, if the problem relates to the passenger airbag module, you can say "hang on guys, check your records, you changed the module 6 months ago" and if the problem is unassocisted then you pay them the diagnostic fee :)
