Cylinder need to be in the ACC position so you can push the small release pin

Thanks Biko. Steering wheel is locked so it's not in ACC position.. Any thoughts??

Well you can try wiggling the key parts around and maybe they will work together in the lock for a split second - enough for you to move key to ACC.

I don't know what a santa fe key key looks like but..

If the keys come apart then you need to swap 2 things from broken key to new key.

The circuit board, obvious enough, this will swap any lock/unlock control from one to the other.

The transponder may not be as obvious, it may just look an odd shaped lump of plastic that clips into the key body- its actually the most important part as it talks with the immobiliser.

Santa Fe is usually a moulded key and a separate remote fob.

Right folks, I'm in bother here..Key is broken in ignition, cannot be removed. Steering wheel is locked and I can't turn key to ACC position to remove the barrel.
Only option is to break the steering wheel lock, any ideas on how best to do this?
I'll need to break the lock to remove the barrel. Will get another barrel and key from breakers yard..

Is it not possible to remove key remnant with fine nosed pliers?

Nope.. Just the top 10mm of the key broke off.. No hope of retrieval..

Before you do anything, try a locksmith I'd be surprised if they couldn't remove the key

Superglue but very small drop and be quick

this happened to me before with a Peugeot partner. I got my broken piece out by putting super glue on the tip of the key you have , and slide it into the the piece that is inside.

this worked for me, might be worth a try. it took a while to get it, but worked

Cut a spare key cut, non immobiliser tyre, few quid. You might be able to push the other bit out if it's still even down there.
If that works then just cut the blade off your old key and put it on the keying or tape it to the key blank you just got so the immobiliser will pick up the transponder.

Thanks for all the suggestions above. I've tried all but to no avail.. 😒 I'm getting a barrell and key from breaker this morning including a door lock for €50. Will update when I know how it goes. As above, ill need to keep the old transponder to start the car..
