Why can't Gardai double job?

    Am I right in saying that Gardai cannot have another job? Suppose a new recruit has three or four days off and gets offered bar work or something like that, why can't they take it?

    Yeah its not allowed officially, Its down to conflict of interest apparently

    eh, uhm, eh, no. Because its against the law, but that wasn't on facebook so you would have to look it up. Organisation of working time act. There's a thing called working to live rather than living to work, you should not have to double job.

    Actually they can have more than one job, they're just not allowed take up certain occupations which would have an inherent conflict of interest such as being a publican or a taxi driver as AGS have a role in licensing and supervision of those areas. Gards are well represented as landlords and in farming for example and I know of photographers and fitness instructors among other things. Nothing wrong with it, no rules broken.
