Baxi System Boiler Help Needed

I need some help with our Baxi System Boiler 35/60. It's switching off at random, showing a red flashing light on the 60 degree LED (Low pressure or pump failure). Turning on the heating from the main timer switch (downstairs), sometimes the rads will stay cold, other times they heat up for a time, then the whole heating switches off. Very annoying, particularly when we want to use the timer.

To get the heating back on, I have switch off the boiler (upstairs), wait a few seconds and switch back on. Most times the LED flashes, but when I turn the small black tap underneath (on the right side), the flame kicks in, and the heating turns on. Sometimes it lasts all night, other times it might switch off after an hour or so.

We've had a few engineers to look at the boiler over the past 2 or 3 years. One of the main Gas Installers here fitted a new PCB board about 7 years ago, and then an Automatic Filling Loop and Expansion Vessel about 2 years ago. We originally had a problem with the outside overflow constantly running water down the side of the house. This fixed the problem but introduced a new problem with dropping pressure.
The pressure seems to be around 1.5 or 2 bar (depending on which gauge - one on the boiler or the one on the AFL), and goes up slightly when the heating is actually on.

I've been told to re-pressurise the system when the pressure drops using the AFL. I have no idea how to do this. It has a red lever tap in the middle of the pipe, with the pressure gauge on one end of the loop, containing a black knob to turn. Turning the tap seemingly does nothing with the pressure on the gauge. Pressure doesn't seem to drop when the heating is off. But, the warning LED is suggesting this may be the problem.
I can't post image links as I'm a newish user, but I have pics of the boiler setup on Imgur.

It's slowly driving my wife mad, so any help is appreciated!

    1. The flow switch may need cleaning out or a new diaphragm
    2. The inline return filter maybe blocked

After the description above, and if magnetite is found in these items you may need a power flush.

An RGI is required for all works on your gas boiler.
