Would anybody be able to recommend a decent solicitor in Galway who does conveyancing for selling a property ? If somebody wouldn't mind PM'ing me, that would be greatly appreciated.

Without naming names, is it ok to mention prices?

Outside of the obligatory charges like stamp duty etc, I have been quoted €1500 plus VAT for the legal services by two different firms.
One large-ish firm and one was a one-man-band type operation.

Does this compare with what the rest of you guys are being quoted?

I would say that's a tad on the high side. I had one guy looking for a commission based fee of 1% of the sale price (plus VAT, outlays etc), and another quoted 1400-1900 (said he'd give a final figure after he'd seen the title deeds). I wasn't happy with either of those, hence why I started this thread ... the fees I've been quoted now are 900 +VAT, so I'd definitely say shop around.

Try PM the other users directly. I'm sure it will be ok.
