Hi I don't know anything about wine but i'd like to get a present for someone in the region of €50-70 can anyone recommend anything.

I know the person drinks Tamburlaine shiraz if that helps in anyway.

If you were to head into a good independent retailer, like the Corkscrew, you'd have a good choice of Australian Shiraz to choose from. They might also be able to suggest some other wine styles as well, so you could buy two bottles at €25-€35 each, rather than one expensive bottle.

I did a quick search on the Corkscrew website for Australian Shiraz, just to give you some ideas. IIRC I've had the Shaw & Smith wine before and it was nice.

Yeah I would agree, a good independent would give you sound advice.

Where are you based OP? I can suggest some around South Dublin if that helps.

Redmonds in Ranelagh, Wines on the Green on Dawson Street, The Corkscrew on Chatham Street, Green Man Wines in Terenure, Donnybrook Fair, Mortons in Beechwood , Whelehans in Foxrock, Mitchell's in Glasthule are all good bets. And I'm sure there are many others

This always gets fantastic reviews... New Zealand Dreadnought Syrah... €35 a bottle if you don't find anything in the higher range.

Try to find out if they they are used to drinking wine in this price range, if not it's often just a waste of money.

For 70e You can probably find a nice decanter instead or possibly a nice decanter and a bottle more suitable to what they normally drink.
