Used Car Warranty From UK?

Currently thinking of buying an A6 from a Audi garage in the UK. They are offering 1 year extended Audi warranty but say it only covers the UK and won't cover Ireland.

Is there any legalities to not offering the warranty because of location? Or is it worth giving Audi Ireland a shout to see would they honour it?

Did they give their own garage warranty or the Audi Approved Used Car Warranty? I suppose if it's the garages own warranty or the car dosn't satisy the parameters to be included in the Audi warranty then they could impose their own conditions, but if it's the proper Audi warranty then it covers all of Europe, but (there's always a but), only for 60 days, in which case you must pay for the repairs and "return" to the UK and be reimbursed!

    See page 13:-

It is the Audi Approved Extended Warranty

Must have a read through that there!

    -edit-
Just had a read of an old thread on here where a guy used his UK warranty by getting the repair done in the North. Sounds OK to me!

    Good point, from the warranty:-
    UK
Means England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Hopefully you'll never actually require use of the warranty!

Hopefully not  but still nice to know it's there. Being an Audi Approved car with low miles and a full Audi history and living very close to the border should mean using a Northern dealer for claims should be ok :D

Hey millington, currently looking at getting a a4 avant over in the UK under their approved scheme.

Would you mind going through the detail of how you approached it?

Do you get a copy of what they have checked on the car or a certificate that it has been approved by Audi?

    Thanks in advance.

Yea we got a folder with the PDI checks in it.

In the end, we ended up buying an A6 from Derby Audi with a years manufacturers warranty left on it which means we can use dealers in the south for warranty work. With regards to the purchase, sent over a £500 deposit as soon as the car went online because at the time the colour and spec we wanted were selling like hot cakes. Flew over the week after, paid the balance with a card and drove home.

With the UK Audi Approved warranty, it would have to be fixed in Northern Ireland which wouldn't make any difference being close to the border but it's not applicable now anyway.

Thanks. Put deposit on a car this evening. Its used approved so won't have warranty cover here unless I go up north. Hoping all will be okay with it though.
