If one were to buy part of one's parents' house, what would be the best way to ensure they had the same rights, in both the the bought and the unbought parts of the house, for their lifetime?

The best way would be to get a solicitor to deal with it. Trying to do it yourself may work out, but then again it may not.

Just be aware that if you get a mortgage to buy it and fail to meet the repayments that the house could be repossessed.
Get a good solicitor to deal with the legal issues.
