I'm looking at buying a Seat Altea 2.0 TDI XL for my wife. This one is 2013 and ticks all the boxes. They are a car I don't know very much about and would appreciate anyone who knows a thing or two about them to share their opinions with me!

    Think disguised Golf.

Yeah, similar to a 5 seat Touran.

Would they be any good though??

Yeah. They're a bit of an oddball yoke, being part of a trio of cars that were very similar -Leon, Toledo and Altea. They've got a massive boot, but no 7 seat option.
Interior isn't amazing, but they're relatively cheap, and if you just need a 5 seater with lots of boot then why not.
Not sure what version of the 2.0 TDI would be in that particular car.

Yeah , but it needs to be cheap as they're very hard to move on because nobody searches for them online . Oddball would be appropriate term , to say the least.

It's the newer 140break common railer, not the older PD yoke with injectors that blow like bulbs. She was looking at a CMax and Peugeot 3008 and liked the look and size of this thing instead. They are quirkey yes but herself likes it.

If she likes it that's the main thing. They're an old enough design apart from the engine, but TBH there's not a lot wrong with them. I'd certainly have one over a 3008.

You certainly don't like the French, do you?! :)

    Anything inherently wrong with a 3008 ??

Nothing major against the French, but the 3008 just isn't a pleasant car, I don't like the feel of the steering, don't like the gear change, the handbrake is a bit akward, most are the 1.6 HDI which again I'd have reservations about.
Not an anti French thing as such.
