Expired 2012!! I wouldn't use it for the purpose that it was bought for.

Is it use by or best before written on the bottle.
Some things like dry powder milk might have best before which means it could be used after the date but might not be as good no guarantee.
Use by means exactly that and could make the intended user sick because it could be gone off after that date.
The reason it's in power form is to preserve it and stop it going bad once it's kept dry but 4 years might be a bit of a stretch.

says expired by 2012. looks sound but I didn't bother using it, got beastings off a neighbor. Wouldn't normally have considered using it at all but was badly stuck and with it being late on a sunday the chances of getting anything were slim, haven't had to use any in a long time and never thought of it expiring until I rooted it out from the back of the cupboard and seen the label. Thankfully a neighbor had some frozen and calf is much livelier after getting a feed of it so he should be sound. Thanks for the reply lads. A new bottle of powdered colostrum will be on the shopping list for tomorrow ;)

Powdered colostrum is far inferior to the real thing expired or otherwise imho.

I'd agree but a hungry weak calf won't say no to a bit of the powdered stuff. It's role is that of a last resort and can prove the difference between life and death if proper beastings isn't available. As said I practically never use it as indicated by me having a 4 year expired bottle lying around but in certain circumstances it's a valuable thing to have.
