Ok so me and two friends are headed to Malaga for a week on the 29th of may, were staying in Ilunion Hotel right down the road from the train station, were also renting a car the second day were there to drive around and see a bit and also are thinking of heading to a waterpark while were there and maybe even getting a train to madrid for the day. Anyone who has been there have any recommendations?

If renting a car, worth while travelling to either Ronda or Granada. Madrid involves far too much travel for a day trip. If you wish to go to Granada get up early! Malaga is a very nice city. Look up Trip Advisor etc and it will help.

Get the hell out of Malaga for the whole trip, most boring unentertaining town in southern Spain

Go to Ronda, Mijas, San Pedro & Benahavis.

fantastic city for a short break, calle marques de larios and calle Nueva for shopping and a ten minute walk from the center to the Larios center for more shopping(very close to where you are staying)also Muelle uno area in the harbour for shopping, eating and drinking.

Calle Granada from plaza de la constitution up to and including plaza de Merced for drinking and eating at night(buzzing!! but I found it to be very chilled out and no hassles) and try exploring the side streets for more restaurants and bars.Try one of the rooftop bars at sunset for cocktails and views https://www.spainfoodsherpas.com/malagas-best-rooftop-bars/.

Malaga has historic sites like the cathedral, Alcazaba and the Castillo de Gibralfaro(great views from here but a fair climb), the city beach playa de la malagueta is ok for a couple of hours but if you want to spend a day at the beach you could take the train to Los Alamos beach(Torremolinos)great beach clubs there and plenty of chiringuitos (beach restaurants),train takes about 20 minutes @ approx 3 euros.

You are probably aware that the train from the airport will drop you at the Maria Zambrano station close to where you are staying in about 20 mins for 3to4 euros

Malaga is a great city enjoy!:)
