    Whats the difference between a dealer and a trader on done deal? Considering buying a car from a trader and wondering what exactly is the difference?

    Dealer you've some chance of getting your consumers rights under the sale of goods act, trader you've no chance even though the sale of goods act applies to them.

    A dealer can sell to you, a trader deales with trade cars. A trader should have more sense than to sell to you as he has to still provide a warranty if he sells to a consumer if his normal business is selling cars and yours isn't.
    A dealer will buy retailable cars from a trader and sell the trader the trade in cars they don't want.
    If you buy from a trader and he says no warranty, you still have come back.

    Thanks guys he seems to have a lot of cars for sale and is offering a 12 month warranty with most of the cars. Looks like pictures are taken in a car park and not at an actually garage

    What's covered under the warranty? A warranty is only as good as what it covers and the business standing over it, irrespective of how long it is.

    The add just states 12 month warranty with car. Does not say what is covered. I will he calling tomorrow to find out morw details

    Put up the car or a car from dealer people on here could then help.

    Most warranty would be basic engine and gearbox once they know it was through no fault of the owner... E.g driving without oil etc.
