Thats a 15Mb line. But G.DMT says its operating at ADSL1 mode (7-8Mb Max) so it may be limited by the exchange not the line.

I knew you would be the man to answer this question, thanks for the reply Ed E :) .

This is my brothers connection on a new line he had installed 3 weeks ago, he is about 2.5km from the Nenagh exchange.

Here's my line 1.5 km from the same exchange.
If his line may be capable of 15mb how come that's the speed I get with better stats?

Even 8MB would be a big improvement, how could I convince vodafone to provide him with adsl2+?

His line says 2.2km, 15Mb ideal world
Your line is bang on 1.5km, 19Mb ideal world.

Id say you've something sub optimal in your line, be it a worn cable somewhere or the modem not being directly on the MDP etc.

With the brothers if it was a new line then ratings arent available so they're installed at 1Mb then turned up. Techs may have set it for 5 to start with after that. If he calls (Vodafone) they should be able to issue an order to reprofile it.

Actually, I need some advice on my own line please. I was planning on ordering vdsl direct from my exchange when it became available, when I go to order it says 12MB is my expected speed with vdsl. Obviously I don't want a speed downgrade. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Here's my results from digiweb line checker

EVDSL maxes out at 1500m, you'll barely covered. I'd be slow to migrate as any issues and they'd have to lock you to 7Mb where as any problems with ADSL only takes you down to 12Mb.

In future that prequal might go up to 18Mb with vectoring. Then I'd order it.
