Polished concrete bench - when and how?

Firstly I'm assuming that a wood burning stove could sit on a concrete base without needing any further heat resistant materials? Is that right?

If that's the case, I'm interested in getting a 3.4m long, approx 60cm deep, low concrete bench in our living room for the stove to sit on. How would I go about doing this? And when in the build would it have to be made?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Edited to add: How expensive would this be likely to be?
