looking for a light bulb

    Hi All!

I'm posting this here in hope that anyone doing anything with tractors can help me out. Apologies if this is the wrong forum. I'm looking for a landing light for a light aircraft. The part number is GE 4509. Believe it or not, but the same bulb is used on some of the John Deere tractors, unfortunately I don't know which ones and I don't know if it's sold with the same number. I hope it is.

The bulb is 100w, 13v. Has anyone any recommendations on where I would be able to buy it? Preferably around Dublin/Kildare/Wicklow. Buying it online is an option of course, but the problem is - shipping costs 30 euros.. I don't really feel like paying 30 euros for shipping for a bulb that should cost about 5-10 euros.. Any hints/tips are more than welcomed

on an airplane it sits in a cowling and is secured by a plastic/glass lens that goes on top of it. No idea what holds it in tractor

Emm Jesus....can you access the John Deere parts site??
And search the part number....as unless you go to someone with in depth knowledge on john Deere you might struggle

Though there should be a dealership around where your looking

can't find anything with that part number, that's the problem. It's obviously not a very modern bulb and has been around for half of century, maybe that's why it's not coming up in any of the catalogs. My mate bought the exact bulb from a dealership in Wicklow a couple of years ago, but they went bankrupt. Maybe someone could recommend a decent shop not too far from Dublin with a huge range of bulbs?

GE Lighting, Holly Road, Western Industrial Estate, Dublin 12 might be worth a shout.
Here is a link to their brochure, page 210 or there abouts has airfield lights.

thanks, I'll give them a ring on Monday.. The bulb in your catalog is listed under "Club and Disco" lights, it looks like it might be more universal than I thought.

If its a bulb from an old JD you could also try some of the vintage tractor clubs who could point you in the right direction http://www.irishvintagescene.ie/clubs-2/wpbdm-category/vintage-tractors/
    Best of luck :)

it's a sealed beam as opposed to a bulb & fair play if you can source it for 10 euro , especially a 100w version , 40w are more common

I posted a few links earlier but deleted but i re read the last part of your post

maintenance manual refers to it as a bulb, but I suppose you're right.

Some of the sites in US have it for as little as 6 bucks. Getting it shipped here however... ouch!

+1 for parcel motel if it's located in UK.
