Question I have had for a number of years. When the GPO was evacuated at the end of Easter Week 1916 it was in flames with the roof caved in. Were there any bodies left behind?

Probably. They were in no fit state to be moving bodies as they struggled to even get to Moore Street

In the building where Permanent TSB is today in O'Connell Street, some men were killed by the fires there.

If you go to Collins Barracks, there are old water bottles on display (next to Connolly's under garment) that were melted badly in the GPO. You can imagine the heat those fires were like.
