Aer Lingus now selling BA flights via AerLingus.com - Cheaper than BA.com

Just a heads up for anyone looking at booking flights with BA...

I was looking to fly from San Francisco to Dublin return around May time. Aer Lingus direct flight shot way up in price, so started looking around at BA and other options with 1 stopover.

I had a look at skyscanner and a British Airways flight from San Jose SJC (actually closer for me) to Dublin (via LHR) came up at over EUR 1,000 cheaper than booking the exact same flight via BA.com.

This is a new BA route that will start in the next month or so on a brand new 787-9.

I checked the price for 2 people via BA.com and it came in around EUR 2800. Exact same flights booked via Aer Lingus.com was just under EUR 1800. I did some other random checking around and there seems to be some bargains out there compared to BA.com. Of course the kicker is that you have to originate or terminate in Dublin/Shannon/Cork or Belfast. Though, that's not a problem for most of us.

BA.com doesn't seem to be functioning right.

DUB-LHR coming in as €350 return?

Saw something similar last week with DUB to LHR on their codes hares. I thought it was a glitch on my company's travel booking system

Seems to be legit. I had a colleague that was looking to fly from Houston to London with his family. 5 adults in total. Checked the BA site and it was coming in around $6000. AerLingus.com adding in a destination of any Irish airport (with the same BA flight on the Houston to LHR leg) dropped the price by around $1200. Pretty much the price of 1 adult via BA. Of course in his case it wouldn't work for him as he's only going as far as London, but I got him to check it out to see if the pricing was similar to the San Jose -> LHR -> DUB flights that I got.

Been going on for a while now. A lot of business passengers will fly to Dublin and back to save a fortune. The problem is a lot of uk people were missing the last leg to Dublin so mightn't be around for long.

Over on flyer talk they think it is to intice people into an extra leg and air duty you pay in the uk not having to be paid.

That has little to do whether it's BA.com or aerlingus.com. It's standard airline pricing: Non-stop flights usually are priced higher than connecting and in the case of flights from the UK, taxes are high (but don't apply to passengers connecting through the UK). USA-London-Dublin will almost always be cheaper than USA-London.
