BTEA and Carers Allowance

    Hi, I wonder can anyone help me. I'm struggling to get a straight or clear answer.

    A family member has been caring for someone for ten years so is on carers allowance. They have recently become unemployed and would like to return to education.

    My question is can then do this while on carers allowance? On the welfare website it says carers allowance is one of the qualifying payments but its still un clear to me...can anyone help or shed some light id really appreciate it thank you

    If the course is 15 hours or less per week then they could stay on Carers while doing the course
    If they want to give up Carers allowance and go on BTEA they can do that either
    But what they cannot do is get CA and BTEA if that's what your asking
