    Hi

Would anyone care to PM me a recommendation for a chartered surveyor to do a building survey on a period house? They'd need to have experience of protected structures.

    Thanks a million.

Hi atgate, this is who we used just before Christmas to carry out a survey on a period house approx 180 years old [snip]. Report was very comprehensive and included recommendations as well as cost estimates for remedial repairs.

Very glad we used them. One of the recommendations for immediate attention was a replacement of the roof. We got a roofing specialist out to check before making our final offer without telling him about the survey. He basically repeated the survey word for word and his estimate for replacing it came in 2K below the surveyors estimate. Was well impressed.

Not sure about listed buildings but I would imagine considering they specialise in period houses this would be in their remit.
