I had to send a faulty SD card back to England for refund. Here's me thinking registered post would only be 3 euro max. Was shocked when the woman said 7.05. The SD card is only worth 16 euro. Am I right in thinking registered post used to only be around 2 or 3 euro depending on weight. The package I just sent was 0.031kg. 7 quid is a joke like.

Would it have made you feel better if the item you sent was worth €1000? Why did you pay almost half the cost of the item to send it registered post, why not send it ordinary post if it was only worth €16?

I should of asked how much it was before she stuck the sticker on the envelope. I've sent stuff by standard post in the past and the people on the other end just pretended they never received it that's why

Registered Post costs a lot everywhere, not a Ireland specific issue.

Maybe about 15 years ago, but as long as I've been using registered post its been at least €5+

I sent it back as I felt it wasn't working properly, for a class 10 SD card. They'll have to check it out first to see if it's faulty. I was just trying to cover my back with the registered post. Ahh sure it's done and dusted now. Was just surprised. I did sent a package a while back which was the same price to post but it was a much bigger package. Surely the size of package should come into the equation

It does, and weight, but there is a baseline charge for registration everywhere.

You should have asked about pricing first, it's a little like ordering a pint in a bar and then moaning about the price when the pint is handed to you.

If only An Post had a website, they could put a postage calculator there...

Sorry to butt in now but I am wondering about registered post....does it go the same time as the last regular post leaves the PO?
For example, my local post office last postage time is 4.20pm, so does that mean I am ok to bring registered post at that time too? I need it o be sent today but I can't get to the PO before this?
