VW 2.0 TDi CR Reliability

May be viewing a 2011 Seat Exeo SE saloon this weekend with the VW 2.0 TDi common rail engine (141 bHp).

I'm well aware that the 2.0TDi PD engines were a minefield of issues with oil pump failures and injector problems but I can't seem to find much info on the 2.0 TDi CR engines. My uncle has an '11 Octavia with the 1.6TDi CR engine and has had zero issues with it since new. Is 2.0 a scaled up version of this?

My main question is when viewing the car what to watch out for on these engines?

Wife drives a 2010 A4 2.0tdi CR with 120k miles on the clock.
I'm not very keen on this car as a car to drive but I have to say 'touch wood' that we have had zero trouble with this engine and car.
It's serviced every 10k with the correct spec oil which I reckon helps with DPF problems and will pro long the life of the engine down the line.

If buying second hand I'd check service history and make sure it was getting serviced at proper intervals using correct oil etc.

Car I'm looking at has FSH so should be fine in that regard. What issues have you with the driveability. I'm coming from a Vectra SRi 1.9 CDTi 150bhp which was a cracking engine but the SRi suspension is uncomfortable and poorly made.

I just find the Audi as very overrated as regards driver interaction. We had a 2006 2.0TDI PD Passat before the Audi and it was far superior regarding driveability.

I know the PD engine was not as reliable as the CR but as a car I found the Passat a nicer drive. That's just my opinion. Others may differ.

The EGR valves are a well know issue with CR engines.

As they are on most diesel engines. Blanked the one in my vectra off an updated ECU. EGR wouldn't worry me too much. What I'm worried about are premature turbo/DMF/injector failures. Anyone have experience of these. For reference the car I'm looking at is: http://www.usedcarsni.com/2010-Seat-Exeo-S-CR-TDI-SERVICE-HISTORY-QUALITY-CAR-159141283

The common rail engines never suffered from the oil pump drive /tensioner issues.
From my own research the injector issues seem to be in the 170bhp PD engines.
Regarding DMF they can go from 80k miles to 150k miles, My own A4 is at 145k miles and never touched

We have had two of them in the family, both 2011 140ps ones. Never gave an ounce of trouble. One was a company car that was driven fairly hard all the time.

I agree as our previous car was a B6 Highline CR which we changed for a new A4, I still miss the Passat plus it gave no bother and was still on the original DMF at 220k..
