    These guys have sealed insulated down lights
    If your fittings are open backed standard units they might have cost about 3 euro each.

    Invest in closed back insulated units.

    They also have fittings that you can have the insulation around

    Have a look on their site.

    Don't worry about losing money on the issue as it's very possible that you have inexpensive fittings as a starting point.

    As Stoner says get some sealed down lights, might as well upgrade to led bulbs too, much less heat.

    I got sealed ones very reasonable from meteor electrical and robus led bulbs. Fitted them in an attic, very happy with them, no drafts or anything.

    The other thing would be to see what sort of insulation you can get in there.
