    Hi,

I pulled the plug on a failing business in 2013. I was then looking after a sick relative but not claiming carers allowance or anything.

I should have claimed earlier but my head was all over the place between the business failure, looking after someone and I had a good bit of money put aside.

Since january I've being applying for a lot of jobs but getting nowhere.

Will I still get JSA despite the late claim. I had being paying tax up until late 2013.

With evidence of those jobs you applied for (rejection letters, email printouts etc.). Genuinely Seeking Work goes a long way in a backdating decision.

A claim can only be backdated 6 months.
