Tax car online after declaring off the road, same day?

Bought a car with tax expired since Dec 2015, transfer of ownership went through on March 13th, it was off the road until today for some work.

This morning I could declare it off the road for March.

But I don't seem to be able to tax it online without paying arrears for March, do I need to go to a tax office with my off-road declaration? or does it take a while for the system to catch up?

you cant declare a car off the road unless it is currently taxed and since the registration went through in march you will have to pay for 1 month arrears and 3 months first.
Sucks, but it was changed a while ago.

Try again tomorrow, think it takes overnight to update.

Tried the same thing with a brand new car this morning and it was showing arrears but the ones I declared off the road yesterday could be taxed this morning with no arrears.

You have 21 days from the date of ownership change to declare off the road; wasn't sure if passing the month would somehow invalidate that, hope not.

Managed to tax it for a year this morning.
I tried last night and couldn't do it (past midnight), so the system must require at least 1 day (24h) in the off-the-road state.

Does the tax expire at the end of March or April next year? I'm guessing March?

I stand corrected, forgot about that rule

Tax is valid April 2016 - end of March 2017.
