Broner stripped of the world title. Missed weight and didn't bother showing up to reweigh, what a bell end.

What makes him a bigger clown is the fact he missed it by 0.4 lbs. I know the guy should be fighting at 147 but if he shaved the beard and took a piss he'd probably lose that weight.

Broner, what an eejit of a man like. He's also apparently wanted on a felony warrant for assaulting and robbing a man at gunpoint at a f*cking bowling alley accompanied by a posse of twats. The man strikes me as a total wally to be honest and he hasn't at all lived up to his potential.

    He truly is ghetto trash!

another two fingers to Mayweather Promotions?
    disaster for Theophane

Theophane odds slashed from 25/1 to 6/1. I lumped a fiver on him at 20/1 when I first heard the news. Hopefully Broner mentally and physically quits in there.

I usually try and avoid judging boxers for their actions outside the ring but something about Broner really winds me up. The man is a professional fighter who uses a gun and a gang of mates to rob some ordinary lad at a bowling alley for God's sake. Impossible to like anything about him.

He can't even play the black hat persona well.

I've never liked him at all, and seeing Maidana do a number on him was majestic.

He has no class, no character that is worth mentioning in a good light, and I can see his career going the way of the dinosaurs at this rate.

A Floyd/Broner fight is inevitable. The trash talking is far too fake...it's an easy fight for Floyd for 50-0, Broner gets another pay day to continue being Broner, and it might land him a few more big money fights after.

That was an unbelievable fight. Both in bitsI thought Luke got complacent. Raging!

Cardle is moving great but cant see him sustaining this for 12 rounds. Dodd is missing badly and that sucks the energy out of you.

Off topic but there's a big lump of an aul fella with grey hair ringside and he's shouting at people across the ring! Doing my head in!

I'm trying to concentrate on the fight while looking for this bloke haha. I personally think Cardle is winning this easy so far. His tempo is starting to slow so we might get them trading a bit more.

    Haha don't bother mate.

I have him winning but for a change I agree with Watt. He needs to start getting his shots off.

It's actually a poor fight to be honest. They look like two journeymen who took the fight for a pay day.

I think this is going to be tough to score, I have it 5-4 to Cardle now.

I have it 5-4 to Dodd.

    Set up for a 3rd.

    No thanks. Haha

Although apparently Dodd sold a ridiculous number of ticket so that might interest Hearn.

Tough test for Rocky this. I could see him having trouble here.

Fielding is getting absolutely spanked here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,488 ✭✭✭Andre 3000

Meanwhile, unbeaten HW Robert Helenius got stunned and KOd by Johann Duhaupas, who lost to Wilder a while back. Bit of a shock that, although Helenius is a fraction of what he was.

    Anyone scoring this?

    I have Rocky winning 76 -75.

    What round?

6th. Only caught the last few mins myself...looked a pretty even fight but Helenius got caught with one clean shot and ended up falling around the ring trying to beat the 10 count and it was waved off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,182 ✭✭✭Danye

I have it as a draw now. 104 a piece. All to play for.

Could we possibly see another draw? Rebrasse shots are more eye catching but looks to be getting tired.

Very possibly. I've scored it 114 to 113 in favour of the Frenchman.

    Rebrasse was robbed

Good scorecards in the UK for once. I guess that puts to bed the idea of Rocky Fielding as world level.

No where near world level. None of the televised fighters tonight are anywhere near world level.

Looking forward to Smith. I fancy him to win within 6.

I really question if Jim Watt is 100% in the head. He cannot score a fight for sh*t.

    Rebrasse was robbed

No he wasn't. It was very close either way.

I'd say he regrets not pushing harder in the last three rounds, considering how dominant he was in the last round.

Are you including Smith in that?

    I think he's world class.

No sorry, I should of said none of the televised fighters so far. Big fan of Smith. I think he'll get the job done tonight within the first 6.

Had Rebrasse winning that one but it was so close it was tough to call.

Molina knocked out Adamek according to Dan Rafael. Some good competitive fights this weekend.

Two former Wilder opponents have pulled off big KO upsets tonight. Adamek was a sad sight though, completely shot fighter. I hope he retires now, he's had a terrific career.

I knew he'd do it quickly but Smith, IMO, is probably the best in division. Just a matter of time until he collects the belts.

Now would be his best time seeing as Froch is retired, Ward moved up, Abraham looks well past it and the Dirrell's seem to be in limbo. I still think De Gale would make absolute sh*t of Smith though.

I don't think De Gale could live with him.

I'd fancy Smith against any of the current champs except de Gale. That's a tricky fight.

de Gale is unorthodox and has a good defense and beard. I certainly don't think de Gale would make sh*t of him. Smith's fundamentals are very solid, as a result he's gonna be hard for anyone to beat. Plus he's absolutely enormous for a super middle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Very impressive from Smith, I think at the moment DeGale is the only champion that beats him but that could change as Smith progresses which he doing very quickly.

Would love to see Smith v Groves, Groves just isn't the same fighter since the Froch fights and I think Smith would stop him.

Ref a bit slow to jump in. Keeler took two extra clouts that he didn't deserve!

At the end of the first round, both looked as if they struggled to make it back to their corner.

Yep was very impressed by Easter Jr. Insane reach for his division. Nasty KO too.

Gervonta Davis was a let down for me. Still looked really raw. Mayweather has said basically said he'll replace him as the best fighter in the world. Not by the evidence of that fight anyway.

Was a fun card overall I though. Type of card Eddie Hearn could learn a lot from. Entertaining fights.

Only getting to this now. We went to this card in the DC Armory which is across the street from the ramshackle RFK Stadium.

This was old school in every way. From the old venue that is really a warehouse type arena to the seating arrangements. Capacity of 10,000 and officially 8,172 there.

First fight we saw was a lightweight clash between Davis and Avila. Davis signed by the watching Mayweather scored a decisive win which even included smashing Avila's mouthpiece out in the 5th after some punishing shots. Then with his opponent on the canvas he danced in front of him. Classless just like the headliner. He may be unbeaten and thought of as the future but needs to show respect to the sport.

Next up Easter v Mendez at 135 pounds. The latter a former Champion but seemed lead footed and also gave away a height advantage. Easter went to town on him and it was all over in the 5th again. Thought the ref did well with a timely stoppage as the punishment was too much.

Main event next and appropriately enough for a lowlife like Broner on April Fools Day. Following some rapping maniac almost swallowing the microphone the main event was on!

He was bigger that the english lad, stronger and was clearly a step ahead on power shots. Initially I though the stoppage was premature as it looked like Theophane had slipped but Broner had hit him in the nuts and he had naturally bent over in pain and put his hands up. Anyway Broner was not in danger despite his game opponent. Crucially though he never really impressed.

Broner has deviated from the master plan since I saw him beat Malignaggi.

Absolutely no chance Floyd will fight him. He had another crack at Broner by saying he thought the fight was a draw!

Back in same venue for a more interesting card on the last day of the month.
