Can someone settle a debate with my mother?

If I have an N plate and my brother has an L plate, is it the case that I can drive with him but he cannot drive with me?

Yes you need to have passed your test for two years before you can let a learner driver be under your instruction

Yeah I know I can't be his supervised driver. But if I am in the driver seat and he is in the passenger seat, is that alright?

He can drive with you but would need another passenger with a full licence to accompany.

L plate should only be up when learner driving and same for n.

Your scenario should be ok once as said there is a full licence holder 2 years or more held.

Of course, you are allowed to drive with passengers. It does not matter whether they have a license or not. You've passed your test.. ;)

This wasn't his question lol. It was if 'he' was driving and the learner was a passenger

Why wouldn't it be? It doesn't matter what license a passenger has, they don't need one if they're not the ones driving

As the driver has a full licence (abeit a novice) no issue. The novice driver cannot be the supervising driver if learner is in drivers seat.

You can drive whoever you want when you get your licence. You don't need a licence to be a passenger.

Novice drivers have no restrictions in that regard.

    Yes.

A driver with an N plate is not restricted to who they can drive around.

The L plate driver can't have an N plate driver as their accompanying driver as to fulfil that role you need to have held your full licence for 2 years. The N plate only started on 1st August 2014
