Hey guys just a question I would like to ask
Currently in progress of buying a cottage
    But it has no heating
It's pretty small 2 rooms in attic 2 on ground floor
My own idea is a stove with back boiler and get radiators in each room
    Is this a good option
And has anyone a rough idea if cost involved

the trouble with a stove only is you have no timed control over the heating

What would be the best option as regarding a heating system
My idea is stove with back boiler
I understand what your saying about the timing control

I would go for a dry stove and oil. At least you can have heat if electricity goes.
Good insulation and installation, and oil wont be too expensive to run. At the moment, it probably cheaper than running a stove.

Also would the addition of a solar panel be of benefit

It takes a REALLY long time to recoup the cost of installing a solar panel.

Hi... Interested to know what you went with in the end? I am currently modernising a 3 bed cottage and trying to figure out what works best. Any help would be appreciated

Im doing similar.redoing a 130 year old cottage.ripping everything out and starting again.it had a stove in and flexible flue liners as chimneys were stone and not so good.i removed 3 linets ladt week and they were rusty and full of holes.they were installed 6 years ago.shocked at the state of them.removing 2 chimneys totally and rebuilding one properly and not using flexible flue liners.im looking into gas or solid fuel boilers for heating but after advice on best system.i figure solid fuel boilers are good and some dont have to be filled too regular and have option of wood or coal or briquettes..
