    Hi,
Has anyone added an automatic mechanism to their up and over garage door? I'm looking at getting one and would love to hear about your experiences/recommendations.
    Thanks!

    Hi.

We had a new automatic up and over Garage door fitted 5 years ago. Works really well and also very silent. Operated from the outside via, a fob, and can be opened from inside by both fob and a switch. A light also comes on built into the motor unit. When coming down the door automatically stops should it hit something.

They guy that fitted it was very good, and has never given a days trouble. In saying that the Garage door is only opened about twice a week.

The Garage door we got folds when it is being raised so not to sure about having a motor on a solid door. He supplied and fitted both the door and the motor.

I got one on eBay about ten years ago.. Never had a prob with it.
Our door is a segmented/folding door.
Haven't seen one on an up and over.

I have a rolling automatic shutter like you'd see on a shop.

Excellent is all I can say.

Thanks for the replies folks, what brand/manufacturers do you have?

This is the brand we have and exactly same fob and type of garage door in the main picture. You can see how the door bends in sections, Plastic but wood effect. Never have to paint it, and doesnt fade. Ours is black, and I wash it down every few months, which brings it up like new.
