I bought ewes in the mart that were supposed to be due from the 17th of mark onwards. They were dropping the same time as my own so it fitted in nicely. My own will be soon finished and the ewes I bought in aren't showing much signs yet. Probably be another two weeks.
Should I complain or suffer in silence?

Sur all the farmer will say is the Rams were let out to be lambed for 17th. Can't guarantee which date the ewe was serviced

i don't think you've much comeback unless they were sold scanned in lamb

They were scanned. Surely this shouldn't be allowed. I only bought them because they were supposed t drop with my own. If they were declared dropping in mid April there would have been less interest and a different price.

They were scanned in lamb so assuming they are in lamb they are lambing after the 17th of March. Another 2 weeks they were still served on the 2nd cycle. It's hardly outrageous. I don't think you've any comeback if they're in lamb.
Ewes announced as lambing from mid April might mean mid may before they lamb. Very different thing.

Due from 17th March if they lambed in May the seller can still say they are due from 17th
Disappointing but not a lot you can do I think:mad:

This is why I don't understand people who buy in lamb animals. You are paying extra for what can be complete fantasy. The bigger the yarn the better.

'Due 17th of March to such and such's 5* texel reserve champion'...

Then they come out at the end of april with horns.

Then you ask the guy and it is 'well there was another ram let out late on to tidy up' - Strange how they all got tipped by him...
