    Hi all,

Would anyone have a list of car rental companies that have cars available in the carpark at Dublin Airport, as opposed to having to get a shuttle bus to a depot on the old airport road?

    many thanks

Fairly sure none of them do. Its anyone, it will be the major players like Hertz. They also choose the 'best' location they can in an airport.

+1 I don't think there's any rental compounds that you can simply walk to from the terminals. Dublin airport got too big for that facility a long time ago.

Yep afaik they are all clustered together a mile or so from the airport. They have very limited facilities for parking returned cars in the airport car park

Yep. Dublin Airport is just too big & busy for that carry on now. There are car rental desks (where u can process your paperwork, get quotes etc etc) a short walk from the arrivals & departure areas, but the car pick up locations themselves, are off site.

I can state as a fact that you are all wrong. IN the short term car parks for t1 and t2, there are rental cars available for the main hirecos, Avis, Hertz etc. Generally, your car will only be there if you are a member of the hireco's loyalty programme, Hertz Gold, Avis Preferred etc. These generally do not have any associated charges or membership costs and, while at really busy times, they will only have cars for "elite" members, that is quite unusual. It doesn't cost anything extra, just a bit of planning. Another tip, while they'll generally insist that you return the car to the offsite compound, if you take their insurance and return it full of fuel, there is not generally any additional charge incurred by parking it in the car rental section and dropping the keys to the desk. I've had about 10 rentals at Dublin over the past year and across a number of companies.

Marcusm is 100% correct. I collected my rent a car from t1 last week. I booked with thrifty which is hertz and it was out the terminal door and just left after the pay machines.

My father is also a gold car member with europcar and always collects his car there.

It might be worth calling them before booking.
