I had a false widow in my kitchen last year.

It had 'skull' markings on its back.

Maybe it's a variation of a falsie but my understanding is they generally have white skull markings.

    I don't think so.

Plus a Facebook panic. No Facebook panic = no false widow.

It did have markings on its back but they weren't white kind of a light brown. I can't say it looked like a skull but definitely a pattern of some description.

It was about the size of a 50c coin possibly a little bigger and it's body was hard like a shell

    Exactly.

Mine came down from underneath the extractor fan as I was cooking dinner.

    Invoked some serious facebook panic.

No need for panic I've showered with red back spiders over my head. Not a fan of spiders but know enough they're not out to attack random odd balls :)

Google. Seems to be a few different looking versions.

    Not to worry just curious.

    Possibly.

No Web of sorts though just a thin wispy layer between 2 tiles. Seemed odd.

Without seeing the abdomen fully it's nearly impossible to describe the above as a false widow but it looks like one. The size, colour of legs and thorax and the body all would point to a false widow.

This is the best I could do.
