I really like the look and they have good reviews of the Z545/745 irons.

Is there anywhere that stocks them where I could look at getting a fitting session.
Fore golf dont stock Srixon clubs unfortunately.

Also if anyone else is playing them any feedback be great

The pro in Lucan golf club stocks them too and should be able to fit if needed.

545s are the best looking irons out there today, absolutely gorgeous with some excellent reviews too. If I were a little better and a little richer at the minute I'd have a set in the bag! Golfstyle in Galway have two sets.

I wouldn't go that far ( 712MB's etc etc) but for the bracket they sit in I think they are the best :)

I hit a shot or two with a friends irons ( he's on here). Feel really good off the face. Not sure on shaft but the swing weight felt a little weird, very head heavy. Goes a mile with cranked lofts but a good high launch. Look fantastic by the ball.

Its great to see a club thats designed for forgiveness and distance that still stay classic in style.

They are surely a rip off of the mp 64's. They look almost identical.

I'd choose the mizunos over them every day.

Absolutely not - far more styling and the shiniest chrome going. 745s would be the ones for me.

    I have them

    4-5iron in the 545
    6-7-8iron in 745
    9-pw in the 945

They are delicious clubs.Biggest thing I've noticed with them is It's so much easier to hit a long iron from the rough. It think it's because of that v design on the sole which helps the club cut through the long grass.

    Yeah I was thinking of
    545 in 4 to 6/7 and the 745 7/8-PW.

Did you find the set blended well? No big gapping between 545 and 745?

Knock it off lads for god's sake - this could end up costing me a fortune :pac::pac::pac:

My set blends perfect. Forgiveness with the long irons and a bit more precision with the short ones.
    Win win imo

The friend here! ;) . I had a set & aesthetically they are gorgeous & they bridge the gap between a "player's" type club & a bit of help/forgiveness. I bought them on a whim & the shaft's were too stiff & heavy for me. They are long!!. But because I have a low ball flight I recently got fitted for a new set of iron's BUT because they (Z 545's) have a milled face I had no problem holding greens with my mid-irons even with my low ball flight so couldn't recommend them highly enough in the right hands!

Just the thread I've been looking for.
I got fitted by foregolf last year for my driver and have been really impressed with the difference. Now the price they quoted me for the irons (Callaway Apex) were beyond my budget but I am now ready to pull the trigger on new irons.
I am a really bad decision maker so I'm looking for feedback. I play off a handicap of 16 ( was 13 but gave up for a while). I'm caught between the rsi1 / srixon / and mizuno irons.
I'm was also so happy with foregolf that I'm reluctant to spend the money elsewhere thinking they won't get it as right as they did. Maybe I'm wrong and all pros can fit.

My local pro is srixon dealer and has a good deal on the irons.

    Any feedback welcome

Steer clear of the RSI's, Too low spinning, great for out n' out distance but no good if it doesn't hold the green the other end. Can't go wrong with the Srixon's or the Mizuno's, I'd lean slightly towards the Srixon's because of their milled face

IMHO, most definitely steer clear of the RSi's. PM if you want more info.

A quick update on the Irons that I got recently. Set I went for was U45 23deg (4 iron equivalent), Z545 5 and 6 and Z745 7 to PW

Am obviously in the honeymoon period but damn these are good irons.

The U45 is a lovely club to hit from the tee or any reasonable lie in fairway or semi rough, I get a good bit of extra distance over my old 4 iron and find it easy to flight either high or low.

The Z545 are stupid easy to hit with a really nice feel from the good shots. There is tons of forgiveness especially from shots hit out of the bottom of the club my usual miss. I find there is plenty of feedback letting you know how you have hit the shot. I am not a big worker of the ball with the long to mid irons but for me they go damn straight so happy to go with that.

The Z745 for me are the stars though, a gorgeous feel soft feel and look great to look down on, not blades really but just enough confidence in the thickness of the top line. As with the 545 these are great interacting with the turf, whether this is the v sole or not, am not sure but very easy to control and again give you confidence to attack the ball from the rough as well as fairway. Distance wise they certainly get out there, not the longest irons have hit but the distance control is spot on a lovely mid ball flight that seems to come down softly again maybe this is from the face milling but they stop quickly for me on the green.

Played 3 full rounds with them and already down from 7hcp to 6 so no complaints here!

I still absolutely love these irons, the 5 and 6 irons which are the 545s are incredibly easy to hit. Again I would suggest getting fitted for shafts as I went with a lighter stiff shaft and that works great for me getting a mid flight on the ball.
What amazes me with these is their stopping power even with this flight, they really seem to grab the green with minimal roll out even with a 5iron. (Maybe its just new clubs with clean grooves :))
Mi****s still get out there and of course there is a drop off in distance but not much and is still usually up around the green or my target. The 745s are not as forgiving in that respect but by no means as bad as my old MP60s I was using for example.
So whats not to like, they look amazing in the bag, have had a load of people admiring them and asking what irons they are. They are soft easy to hit with ample forgiveness.

Excellent write up, thanks! Although, I was half hoping you would say they were terrible....how am I going to explain new clubs to my other half!

Anyone tried the Srixon woods and hybrids?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,675 ✭✭✭ronnie3585

I bought a set of the 565 irons this time last year and I absolutely love them. I hit the driver when I was in the shop and really liked it too, it was easy to hit it out of the sweet spot and forgiving. If I were in the market for a new driver I'd certainly consider one.
