AE piston and liners(nightmare)

    Hi Lad.

    Anyone know who stocks AE liners, for 3cyc 35 . The Block was bored out +0.030" cannot get a liner to suit absolute nightmare

    Have you tried Donnlons in Lanesboro? Trade as "Engine Spares"
    Did the company who machined it not have pistons to fit?

    Or for less common problems talk to Keith Magwood up in Fermanagh. Nothing he doesn't know about machining work, and will have a machinist solution to problems, where lesser shops will tell you to scrap the block.

    Hi.

    The Block was machined years back(20yr) by previous owner . Morgan Dempsey is doing the work for me. He said them liners are not common now, the liners cannot be bored as will not be able to get oversized pistons .

    Well my situation was that I had a super dexta which was seized with water down the bores.
    Brought it to the guys in Lanesboro and the middle liner came out in two pieces, and there was a hole into the water jacket from the bore. They refused to do anymore with it.
    Magwood said "no problem" and bored the centre bore to take a 35x liner. These are quite thick. Pressed it in and machined it back to match the other two new Dexta liners. Job is 100%.

    You might be as well to get new liners pressed in, the entire job outlined above came to 220 Euro.

    That's the problem,I can't get liners. I thought 35x liners were the same as 35 liner. 135 are heavier (I think)

    Try Edina, They used to be perking agents or Sean/Paddy Clear Engines in Loughrea. Paddy does a lot of the 3.144 and 3.152 engined.
    Sparex used to do cheap kits also.
    In a previous life I had to make a set of oversized liners for a 35 Standard. I had to make them from solid cast iron. Expensive, but engine is still running.

    Ended up buying a fully recond engine for €1150 three months warranty. cheapest way out.
