My putting is the weakest part of my game, so i'm looking into doing a clinic. Has anyone done one, and can give their recommendation or feedback?

    Thanks

I've done the Peltz school, both short game and putting clinics. I didn't pay for it, and I'm also a member there, but the clinic was excellent, especially the short game clinic.

I haven't done the the one at Carton, so I can't comment, but I've used the facilities and they are also excellent.

I'd say let the price be your guide.

How was the putting instruction, and do you feel that your putting has improved as a result of it?

I'd definitely be interested in this. Feels its an area I can definitely look at improving slightly Where can you find more information about them?

What sort of price would they be?

Have done the short game clinic at carton & while I found it good for off the green stuff, I found there was very little focus on putting specifically. So unless they are running putting courses exclusively I couldn't recommend that particular course for what you are looking to work on

For kileen Castle 3 day short game €1400, 2 day short game €1050 and 1 day €195
There is 3 hour putting lesson for €149

The one day short game looks decent value at €195.

I've done the one at the GUI academy and it would be an OK starting point for a beginner or high handicapper(20+) but otherwise I think it might be a bit too basic for you.

The 3 and 2 day prices are insane, surely for that money it would have to be 1:1 instead of the 4:1 as indicated. Can't see anyone bar maybe a plush corporate outing ever paying for those if prices are correct.

Have done the half day short game clinic at Carton House a few years ago. Found it useful at the time but it being 6:1 you don't get a huge amount of individual attention. Don't know what price the Carton clinics are now as annoyingly their website gives all the details apart from that crucial snippet of information.

As an alternative you might be better served getting a 1:1 lesson with you local pro for putting. Most people only focus on the long game when getting a golf lesson but from personal experience my own pro has really improved my putting after I asked him to focus on that aspect in previous lessons. Whole myriad of information you wouldn't even think of or realise (at least that was the case for me anyway).

I think after looking at those prices giving €30 to my pro for a 40 minute short game lesson is a far better investment!

It was fine. Then again putting is probably the strongest part of my game.

Tuition on grip, stance and swing were good and some really good tips and drills on ensuring you're square when striking the ball. It you're into practicing, all of the instruction was repeatable both on a practice green and at home. They had all of the equipment when shows swing path, and measurement devices which gave you a good visual on swing length and effect (sounds basic I know, but makes a lot of sense when you see it).

As I said I was paying for it (it was a corporate day) so I'm not really in a position to gauge value.

Thanks for that, sounds exactly like what I think I need. I'll book it and feed back a review here afterwards

I did the putting clinic at the GUI. Thought it was really good. There was 2 of us in the clinic and it ran for 90 minutes, so plenty of 1:1 time.

First he works on your technicals (stroke) and fundamentals (stance, posture) for about 20-25 minutes (this was probably more than necessary but had extra time as there was a small class on the day.

The rest of the clinic is doing drills set out on the green (while the pro tends to the others). The is also a basic discussion on reading greens and then some thoughts on lag putts. Pick up some good drills too.

It really helped my putting, increased confidence and a more consistent strike. The lag putting and green reading tips didn't do a huge amount for me, but the changes in stance and strike did.

Only 24 after a 20% discount, if I remember correctly.
