Im thinking of buying a car from a private individual. He imported the car himself and paid the VRT himself. Just wondering if there is any way of finding out what mileage was on a car on the day the VRT was paid? He said he has misplaced the receipt that he would of received which may of shown the mileage at the time.

That will only give me previous mot mileage checks. Is there an irish check i can use to show how many miles were recorded on the day the car was vrt'd?

it would be irrelevant anyway, i recently bought a car in England, and i had it for over 2 weeks before i did the vrt, i had ample time to clock the car, i didn't obviously.

Do a full UK check on the car first. If you are in doubt, walk away.

Check and verify the car's UK service history upto the time it was imported. Ring the garages that stamped the book and verify what they did and at what mileage.

Not possible to get the mileage reading that revenue recorded on the day of registration as revenue commissioners don't share this with anybody.

Run a history check for Irish and uk Reg numbers. Motorcheck give a lot of info that others don't. Send me a private message and I'll get you a discount code.

I VRTd my car the other day and got a full printout of mileage when the cr was inspected. This doc should always accompany the car if its genuine imho
