So I am in the market for another classic car.
I want something unusual and not much older than 1980.
    I have around 7/7500K to spend :)
These are the kind of cars id be interested in :
    -old fast peugeots (505gti preferably)
-BMW 635csi ( does anyone know if you can get a manual for this kind of money?)
    -possibly a 2 door 560sec mercedes w126

If anyone has any ideas all are welcome. I am open to anything.
    Thanks very much

but on saying that if I got rare enough car that I liked enough I may be interested in a project..
That'd probably only be a 505 or the 635csi though

SEC C126 didn't come out till 1981, the 505 was released late 1979 so that leaves you with the BMW!

Is it an everyday useable classic, or a simple investment?

If its a bit of column A and a bit of column B, I'd be looking at a low mileage almost concurs example. Your best bet is the UK for good examples. You'll want something you can sell on, so fast Fords, hot Hatches, etc always sell.

If it's just something quirky and a saloon, what about a Citroen or a Fiat?

its more something just for shows and maybe the odd road run.

How hard is it importing cars from the UK ? Or have you ever actually done it yourself ?

I do like a luxury saloon. Im a fan of the jags aswell (have an xj40 already) but i may be interested in a decent citroen but fiat probably not.

What do people think the future will be like for the peugeot 505GTI ?
Will they increase in value.. become more collectable etc. ? :)

Yes very much so. Problem is that there are very few about and those that are for sale are usually automatics.

They rarely come up for sale so go get it! Importing a classic from the UK is as easy as falling off a log. I'll give you the steps ....

    1. Find the car
    2. Go to the UK and buy it
    3. Insure it
    4. Drive it to the boat
    5. Drive it off the boat
    6. Book an appointment ( straight away) with the local NCT to have it checked and valued for VRT
    7. Pay up and get your new number

    Simples

I have a chance to get a properly mint automatic one with just 50K miles and NO RUST .

I could do that alright. Its just the extra expense then between exchange rates and VRT etc.

Iv actually never seen a manual 505gti. Not even a one that isn't for sale before.. they must be scarce :(

VRT will be €720, plus getting to the UK and back again, lunch and the odd coffee! Probably €1100 all in

There is no extra expense in exchange rates unless you're out of the SEPA thing.
