I can't stand her. It is like as if the cast of Fair City and Roddy Doyle sat down and created their own ideal X-Factor winner in a test tube made of Gur Cake.

I think she's good. Very down to earth.

Reading that back, I actually sound like a bad Irish author. Ah well. Still can't stand the bitch.

    Meh I think she's alright.

You know, no one's actually making you listen to her ...

I quite like her.. Any particular reason you started a thread about her?

Are you forced to watch her OP?

She seems to be RTE's one stop shop for authentic "Duberlin" singing and old time humour.

    Jesus. Bit harsh, no?

I'll admit that the whole fifties throwback shtick gets old very quickly, and her music isn't really my cup of tea, but she seems a decent enough sort.

An attractive woman doing a job she loves and getting well paid to do it ......... yeah, it must be sh1t being Imelda May.

I think the main problem is that she's on the TV a bit too much and like Grainne Seoige some of us are a bit tired of her.

I like her music, and her style, but it's just a bit weary now.

Good singer, wish she'd stop the chatter, but y'know really it's the fault of de media, Ireland's 'celebrity' scene is so small that they have to call on C, D & E-listers to fill up their rags.

That chirpy washerwoman shtick grates after a bit but she seems like a likable person. And at least she doesn't make you want to kick fcuk out of the TV like Damian 'Rugged Proletarian Bard' Dempsey.

Saw her at Marley Park last year. Was fairly bland but it was a Paolo Nutini gig so shouldn't complain about blandness.
Gay Byrne is a huge fan which should ring alarm bells.

The last time that I was aware of her existence, she was on the jools Holland show - about 5 years ago. She seemed inoffensive enough.
What TV channel has she taken over to the extent that she's on air enough to have become the object of someone's ire?

I can't stand her. I can't stand the way RTE trot her out like some kind of savage that they've managed to civilise for ten minutes - "look at her there isn't it fascinating to see one in the flesh."

And that voice, not her singing one, just pierces my skull like nothing else.

She had a show that ran for two seasons, the Imelda May Show (easily avoided if its not your thing), and she has been on the Late Late a number of times (like any half decent Irish celebrity). She has carved out a fairly decent international career in a niche area, and she is not "shoved in our faces" half as much as people make out.

I think this opinion says a lot more about you than it does about RTE or Imelda may tbh
