There are, they have taken away the pay barriers with a while now. They are at the left past supermacs as you head towards the ticket office.

Not related to OPs query but seeing as the thread title says Heuston Station, I noticed Marks and Spencer Simply Food is opening in a new retail unit by the Customer Service desk according to a sign on the hoarding. If it does as well as the one in the IFSC, then it should be very successful!! A lot of Kildare line commuters might pick up their ready meals on the way home!

There's one lined up for Connolly as well plus an o'briens.

Better than the threatened arrival of McDonald's :)

Had the misfortune to be in "The Hole" aka Connolly last Sunday and I never saw a less inviting looking kip than Madigan's Bar - is it as awful as it looks?

About time they improved the shops and outlets at Connolly especially.

The space inside is lovely, just not well run or nicely kept. And it closes at 8pm. The only bar in the country that closes before the last train? The Brew Dock across the street proved the right kind of bar in that area can do very well.

There's no space in connolly for them.

Yes there is. There is one retail unit free and the other will take a bit of moving around.

Indeed but I'm sure IC customers spend a lot more than commuters hence the better selection.

Good addition, might bring prices down a bit as well.

It's alright actually, not too bad.

Galway Hooker at Heuston is better like.

Food in the galway hooker is terrible though. Better options over on parkgate street

Is the Galway Hooker still going at Heuston? Has it been open full time or did it close briefly?

    Still open!

Agreed with other poster, food terrible!

It's a pity they didn't close the Heuston branch of Supermacs and put M&S Simply Food there. I'm not joking when I say Supermacs food on trains smells like it's been eaten before. You can smell a Supermacs curry 3 carriages down. You can smell anything else from Supermacs 2 carriages down. Heuston should use the revenue they get from Supermacs for cleaning upholstery on trains because the food is so messy. Better still, don't allow hot food to be brought onto trains.

Back to the OP query - the toilets in Heuston station are inadequate. The ISS cleaning staff are working flat out to keep them clean but it must be harder than cleaning the Augean stables.

Supermacs is the best place in Heuston....

The Supermacs is to acclimatise you to Galway before you get on the train :)

As long as you eat their food IN HEUSTON and not on the trains.

There's nothing wrong with Galway but the people I see slobbering Supermacs sauce all over the train seats aren't on their way to Galway.

I thought the recent additions of the pharmacy and AMT coffee kiosk and reoriented seating/ATM area have smartened the concourse area of Connolly. I'm also struggling to identify where the vacant units are in Connolly as I thought all spaces were occupied too.

Also, the food used to be better when Oslo ran the bar. A lot of IFSC workers used to trek up there for lunches - particularly on a Friday...I've only been there about once or twice in the last couple of years and it has been so much quieter and the food is now very much of the throw it on the plate and drown it with gravy carvery fare.
