Hey I have 2 cases of ewes with twins where they have one big and one small lamb. The smaller is about 1/3 size of bigger lamb. One small one survived and other didn't. Any idea what it is. They are both fat and have big udders to support twin lambs. One other set of twins is grand.

Google it and you will see that there is not much can be done about it. More to do with bad luck really. I have one set of twins like this. I'm amazed the small one is still alive but he's nearly two weeks old at this stage. Was like a little monkey when born!

Had a case of it here this morning. One normal sized lamb, perfectly fine, reached in to get the second one any it was tiny. Dead. As if it had stopped growing a week or so before lambing. Like the umbilical cord had gotten broken or something like it.

I read somewhere that this is a case of triplets and at some stage early on, two lambs merge into one bigger one.
