Bath drain bad odour coming out

We are getting the occasional rotten odour coming from bath drain. The drain s bend has been removed and cleaned, had the usual amount of hair etc to be removed.

The odour still is there occasionally so cleaning the drain did not solve problem.

There hasn;t been any changes to our plumbing system in years so its not something that has been changed.

Looking at the drain, the s bend looks very slight and is installed at a very slight angle. I wondering is

    a) is this the correct size s bend for bath drain?
    b) would a slight tilt (a few degress) make a difference?

    Try washing soda.
Buy a box in hardware. Tip an amount in to bath outlet and pour a full kettle of boiling water on to them. Leave for an hour then repeat. Might be grease and body oils have coated the internal face of the abs/waste pipe. Size is OK. Not sure about the long horizontal portion after the bend/trap - probably not ideal.

If the bath is seldom used, it only takes for a small amount of water to evaporate from the trap and you then get smells.
Next time just pour a mug of water into the bath drain and see if that stops the smell.
Also check the small cap at the bottom of the trap and make sure it is absolutely water tight.

I know that the water seal if its maintained should stop any smells but years ago there was the occasional "bad smell" in my upstairs bathroom, the bath and sink drain into the bathroom toilet combined waste/vent. I found the top of the vent almost completely obscured with moss, after cleaning it off there were no more reports of smells.
