    Could engine "chugging" at low speed be an indicator of a dirty Mass Air Flow Meter?

    It could be anything but do clean MAF and throttlebody.

    What car - age, brand, recent service or work on it?

    Primera 01, 125kms, no recent service history.

    Try unplugging it and see if it runs any better.
