Lidl/Aldi how do the farmers fare?

As we all know lidl and Aldi have insanely cheap fruit and vegetables. But I was always wondering how much money do farmers get especially after selling the produce for such a cheap price? Does lidl or Aldi just operate on a huge loss and get the money back by selling other products at a higher price to make up for loss? Is it better to buy fruit and veg at higher priced shops for the reason of higher pay to farmers? I have no interest at all in farming but I think that lidl and Aldi, dare me say it, is at least a small bit controversial and I am interested to see how they treat the farmers.

Ah but we get chape compressors and power tools!
I wouldn't know any veg growers, is it a tight margin game? We'd buy nearly all our fruit and veg out of a locally owned fruit and veg shop. They do a great trade but the like of lidl and aldi have put them under pressure in the past.

I know a couple of lads that supply them vedge, they are tough negotiators but fair - when you do a deal with them they don't try renegotiating the terms.
I think Tesco are the worst of all to deal with, they come down to farm make you spend megabucks on New gear. Then when you've spent the dough they know u need them for repayments on it n they play u like a cat with a mouse.
